Dancing in the Desert

Sometimes Life feels like a roller-coaster ride, it has its ups and downs. And very often our down moments seem like they will last forever. Sometime when we are happy we forget that God is the one that has provided those joyful, feelgood moments and when we are down we want to blame it all on Him.

In the Bible, the desert has been used as a symbol of a place of trial. When the people of Israel left Egypt, they were guided into the desert and wandered there for 40 years. You may think, if my down moment is my desert, I don't want to stay there for 40 years!! But God had a bigger purpose for them. He did not want to take them directly from slavery to salvation but instead he wanted to help them grow strong to then become the owners of their own land, the Promised land.

Before Jesus started his ministry he went into the desert for 40 days, where he was tempted a lot, but he overcame that. And when he got out he was ready to start his ministry and teach us the way of Life.

When we become a Christian, sometimes we feel like life gets harder, like it was easier when we didn't know this life, or when others see Christians they think why we complicate our lives so much. They don't see that God has a bigger purpose for us. That he wants to teach us how to go from Slave of Sin to Saved from Sin.

The attitude we show in the Desert defines our character, and it defines whether or not we will grow stronger in Christ or stay stuck in one place.

In my short life experience I've known different kinds of people, those who dance in the desert and overcome the trials and become conquerors and achievers of great things and I also know those who stay stuck in the desert and never grow and are always in a loop, where the trials repeat. And trust me it will repeat until you decide to move forward, until you pass the test.

Today I would like to encourage you to be a dancer in your desert. It is a school to teach us how to become stronger and conquerors of our fears and temptations. This is the purpose of God, he wants us to grow stronger in every trial, every desert, so he can use us to do great things in His name.

If today you are in a desert, know that God is there with you, and he will provide for you the strength to carry on and be a conqueror. Praise Him and Glorify Him because He will never put you in a situation you can not overcome. And if you find that this time it is harder than last, this means you have grown in Christ and He will give you the tools in his word to be who he wants you to be.

We are never defeated unless we give up on God, so hold on tight to him and have a Great ride =D

God bless you all.

The Greatest Weapon of All

This week I've had a very amazing experience with God.
During church on Sunday I felt this urge to give a testimony about how amazing God has been to me. My two grandmothers, one in Venezuela and the other in the Netherlands had a very rough summer. One was sick with water in her lungs and the other had a hernia near her intestines which is a very delicate area more in her case since she has diabetes and heart problems. My family and I went into prayer. I went to the Netherlands for vacation and in the 3 weeks I stayed my grandma stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks. But then during my testimony I realized it was ONLY 2 weeks, and now that I'm back on my island my brother tells me that she is as if nothing ever happened. God is Great. My other grandma, the one in Venezuela had to go through a series of tests and treatment before she could get the hernia removed because of her delicate situation. Last week she got into surgery and I am the proudest granddaughter there is. My grandma is my idol because she is the strongest woman I know. Despite her condition she had healed a lot in just one week. God is Great. Last Sunday I gave this testimony and I encouraged my brothers and sisters in Christ to Pray! There is Power in prayer. Jesus prayed and taught us how to pray. He gave us the greatest weapon there is. With prayer we can control what is going to happen in our countries, in our communities, in our schools, everywhere. The best thing that happened was that the leader that preached that day, spoke about the Power of prayer! God used me to start the preaching and it feels amazing to be used by Him.

That day I felt that God wanted to use me, I had to give my testimony. When you feel that way you can't concentrate on anything else. You just know He will make you talk and if you don't He will be heard either way. So I decided to follow Him, and I spoke up.

Today I would like to encourage you to do the same. Maybe you would think " I am horrible at speaking in public". Trust me I was shaking when I was talking, but I felt like it wasn't me. Before I had to go up, the pastor let worship go on for like an hour, and I was thinking of the many things I would say and how I would say them. I was going to conclude my testimony with the subject of faith and yet when I went up there it somehow ended with the power of prayer. My friends, trust me, when the Lord wants us to speak He will give us the right words, the right things to say. As scared and shaky as I was while holding the mic, I knew it was not me talking. I was right behind Him. He was saying what needed to be said and I was just a way, a voice. And that is the MOST AMAZING FEELING EVER!! Just let Him use you, and once you let Him, all your fears and all your shaking will be gone.

So I encourage you to use that amazing weapon Jesus Christ has given to us, Prayer, to go to our daily battles and be victorious in Him. And let Him use you, trust me on this one, you won't regret it.

Please enjoy the following song =D

God Bless you all.

10,000 Hours...

In my first post I would like to introduce myself. I'm a girl that lives on an island in the Caribbean called Curacao. I study law and I am a Christian. I've been a christian since I can remember. The first book I read was the Bible and even though I started in the Catholic Church as I grew older my path got modified and I decided to go to Pentecostal church. I've been a member for 6 years now.

In the beginning I must confess my relationship with God was better, it had more fire and as life got busier my fire started to dim, but now I've decided it's time to grow more and share what my thoughts are with whoever is willing to read.

I called my Blog 10,000 Hours with Him (Him being Christ) because my pastor inspired me during the Olympic Games. He explained to us that for an athlete to become good at any sport it would take him around 10000 hours to become that way. That is around 3 years before you can say you are good at any sport. He compared this to the fact that the Ministry of Jesus Christ lasted 3 years and the disciples spend 3 years walking with him, that would be around 10,000 hours before they could carry the Gospel and bring it to other nations and people.

A lot of us Christians are the typical Sunday Christians, we only pray or go to church or do anything "God-related" on Sunday or Once a week. And yet we think we are "good" Christians, wanting to judge others and point fingers while we know we don't even know whats written about Christ or our religion. For us to be good Christians maybe we should think that it takes TIME and if even the disciples that had Christ to walk with them and teach them directly how more won't we need to study harder and learn about the Way? What I'm trying to say is, maybe we should spend more than 10,000 hours praying and reading and asking questions and learning about God and from God so we can talk with Authority and Wisdom, and all of this comes from Above.

I would like to encourage whoever reads me to not be just a "Sunday Christian" but to be a Full Time Christian. I challenge you to make it more than 10000 Hours with God let it be so much that even God will say KID, GET OFF ME!!

Let's start this walk, day by day asking Our Lord to teach us and when he does to give us the wisdom to learn and move forward. So that one day when we finish walking this marathon He can be proud of His children and proud of His people.

I encourage you today =)
