"Dios se lo pague...."

There is a story my mother always tells me, about my grandmother in Venezuela, and today she repeated it. There is a saying in Spanish that says: "Dios se lo pague", meaning "May God pay you back", it is used to say thank you when someone does something you can't pay back. And that is what I want to share with you today.

My mother was always a very outspoken little girl. My grandfather wasn't the best man of the house so my grandmother always found a way to make money to feed her children. She sold ice, and some other things I don't remember, and there was always people in her house. Who stayed to eat or drink coffee. The whole neighborhood came by my grandmothers house. My mother didn't agree with that because the prices were going up and everything was getting expensive, if all these people got these things for free, one day, she would have nothing to feed her children. My grandma always said: " Mi'ja en una casa nunca debe faltar un Dios se lo pague", in a house there should always be a May God pay you back.
One day my grandma saw that there was  no food for the next day. She only said: "Hmm there's no food for tomorrow" the next day at 5 am her brother came by with a goat. So there was food for that day.

The lesson we have to learn from this, is that a lot of times we think that because we don't have much we shouldn't give and God will understand. But in the bible it says, if you give you will have more. God gives seed to those who sow. Today my grandma is missing nothing, because during her entire life, even when she didn't have she gave, and she did abundantly, so God keeps giving her all she needs.

We worry so much about what we are missing in our lives, and we worry so much about what is going to happen tomorrow and we forget that tomorrow is not in our hands but in His. If He gives food and shelter to His other creation. How much more won't He provide for us who are His children?

So I guess today I bring a double encouragement. Like my Grandmother did and does. Always give, without holding back. Give love, give shelter, give and you will receive from God so you can continue giving. Be a river that flows and calms the thirst of those who are in need. And while giving, surrender it all to God. He is our provider. So why worry about tomorrow? He provided yesterday, He provides today and He surely will provide tomorrow.

So don't worry about what's going to happen tomorrow and Give =D

God Bless you and be a blessing to others.

Who am I?

I've been thinking lately about a lot of topics that I have also had trouble with. There is one topic that from time to time does bother me and I know that it might bother some other people too.

Insecurities. We all have them. We are afraid of what people may think of us, even if we don't say it out loud. It's OK and we don't mind while they say good things about us, but when someone says something bad, now that's a whole different story.
Insecurities arise when we don't know who we are, and we let the opinion of others influence us in such a way that we will be become what others want us to be. But as a Christian the only opinion that should matter in my life, should be God's opinion. And how do we know his opinion? His word. There are a lot of examples of how God wants us to behave. In Romans 12 it says:
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
And it goes on about how our character should be. The point is we aren't supposed to be people pleasers, but God pleasers. The Lord should be our motivation to be good people, to do good to others, to forgive, to act correctly, and to love. He is constantly watching over us, even when we don't need to pretend because there are others around, He is there. He knows our deepest darkest secrets, he knows when we sin, before we did. He knows us better than we know ourselves and even then He decided to die on that Cross for us.

We feel insecure, ugly, worthless, but think about it, The KING decided to leave it all to show us a way. He decided to take our sin, be humiliated in front of everyone, and killed with the most dishonorable way that existed in those times, just for us. Now tell me, do you still feel worthless? Do you still think that what the ones around you think matter, and what God thinks doesn't?

My friends, I would like for you to take a moment today, and think about what you are and who you are pleasing. Then I would like for you to take that and surrender it all to God. because He knows what he wants you to become. And I'm sure that if you decide to please Him, it's probably not going to be easy, but it will be worth it.

Today I want to encourage you to read your bible, find out what God wants of you, and pray that He will bring you there. Be a God pleaser!

God Bless you and be a blessing to others.

Just let Go...

A lot of times it is not easy to make decisions. It becomes even harder when those decisions not only affect your life but when they affect others. Like when you have to stop being friends with someone who has chosen a completely different path than you. Or when you decide that this guy you dated, isn't the one that God has intended for you to spend the rest of your life with.

One of the greatest decisions we can make is to choose to live a life for God, yet it is not easy. When you choose Him, you surrender yourself to Him, you are not the boss anymore. And as a control freak or bossy girl I sometimes am, it's not easy to let go.

It has been a bit difficult for me to write the last few days, because no message has come to my mind. Now I realize that the reason for this is because God hasn't been everything in my mind. Living on a tropical island, where there are no rivers, water can only flow inland when it rains.  I guess in my case, God's wisdom can only be shown if He lets it rain on me, for that I have to let Him be everything in my life, everyday.

This week my message is short. I would like to encourage you, that whatever you may be going through today, remember that choosing for the Lord, may not be easy, but the rewards are Great. He will fulfill your life emotionally, spiritually and physically. Just give all your worries to Him, talk to Him, be his Friend and He will make sure everything is going just the way He plans. For He has plans to give you life and a Future.

God bless you all, and be a blessing to others.
